Meaning of cost/benefit ratio
A comparison technique that shows costs to benefits as a simple ratio. Costs and Benefits are discounted to PV, then Benefits are divided into Costs to yield cost per unit benefit measure. C/BR can be examined in total or by year. Sometimes examining it by year is useful as one can visually see when the Benefits start to outweigh the costs. This method works particularly well when alternatives have unequal costs and unequal benefits.
