Meaning of defense articles
Any DoD military items such as: (a) weapons systems, (b) munitions, aircraft, or boats, (c) other property, installations, material, equipment, supply or goods used for purposes of furnishing military assistance or making military sales, (d) any machinery, Facility, tool, material, supply, or other items necessary for the manufacture, production, processing, repair, servicing, storage, construction, transportation, operation, or use of any other defense article, or, (e) any Component or part of any articles listed above. Defense articles do not include merchant vessels, major combatant vessels, or, as defined by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, source material, by-product material, special nuclear material, production Facilities, utilization facilities, or atomic weapons.
