Meaning of on-the-job training
A program of training designed specifically to train an individual, without the necessity for interrupting his performance of daily assigned duties relative to his work assignment. OJT may take the form of formal classroom training, reading assignments, job performance, with or without supervision, and/or self-paced instructional materials or combination thereof. OJT programs may range in complexity from those designed to train an entry level student to become fully qualified in the case of simple tasks, to programs designed to take an individual who possesses the fundamental principles required to understand the tasks from this level to that of an individual who is fully qualified to perform all the tasks and duties of his position without assistance.
