Meaning of production engineering
The application of Design and Analysis techniques to produce a specified Product. Included in production Engineering are the functions of: (a) planning, specifying, and coordinating the application of required resources, (b) performing analyses of Producibility and production operations, processes, and systems, (c) applying new manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment, (d) controlling the introduction of engineering changes, and, (e) employing Cost Control techniques.
