Degree-Masters-Doctorate
Since the start of the 2005-6 academic year, all universities except for that of the Antilles-Guyane have offered courses on the Degree-Masters-Doctorate basis. Combined Letters-Languages-Humanities and Combined Sciences disciplines were created as part of this Degree-Masters-Doctorate reform. The Degree course corresponds to the first three years of higher education. The Masters course offers the possibility, within a given field, of organising a variety of tracks to facilitate the gradual orientation of the students either towards a predominantly professional track leading to a "Professional Masters", or to a predominantly research track leading to a "Research Masters". The Doctorate course is research-oriented and culminates in a thesis.
