Embedded Audio – a) Embedded digital audio is mul-tiplexed onto a serial digital data stream within the horizontal ancillary data region of an SDI signal. A maximum of 16 channels of audio can be carried as standardized with SMPTE 272M or ITU-R.BT.1305 for SD and SMPTE 299 for HD. b) Digital audio that is multiplexed and carried within an SDI connection – so simplifying cabling and routing. The standard (ANSI/SMPTE 272M-1994) allows up to four groups each of four mono audio channels.
