Bottom-up multilateralism
Bottom-up multilateralism: a negotiating process resulting in bilateral and minilateral outcomes which are extended multilaterally from the bottom up. Cowhey and Aronson, proponents of this process, stress that such deals must encompass the basic principles of the multilateral trade regime, and they must be open to the scrutiny of third parties.
