Appeal court
Judicial court of second instance that re-examines a lawsuit having given rise to a first judgement delivered by a court of first instance (tribunal). The appeal court decides again on the fundamental dispute, that is, it rules on the very object of the trial. The court can so reverse or confirm the first judgement.
