It is designed to be readily removed, lowered or carried away by high flow or floods. Flash Flood, also Flashflood A sudden flood of great volume, usually caused by a heavy rain. Also, a flood that crests in a short length of time (hours or minutes) and is often characterized by high velocity flows. It is often the result of heavy rainfall in a localized area.
